Looking Forward To March 7th

Date: March 5, 2012 | Category: Interesting

With Barcelona behind us most of the players have tipped their hand for what 2012 looks like. We know that Nokia is making a Hail Mary pass with Windows phone. There is no Plan B. Samsung and the others have laid out their strategies for the year. If there is to be a summer CES Chicago, it is never a place for announcements or mind share.

That leaves Apple, which in recent years has decided to go it alone with its own standalone press conferences. And we are mere hours away from one of those hallowed events. As sure as the sun rises on March 7. Every technology reporter on the planet will be listening for the great outcome.

Top 5 Quotes From Ex-Apple CEO: Steve Jobs

Date: August 31, 2011 | Category: Interesting

Steve Jobs is an inspiring individual who co-founded Apple, was then let go, then when he came back he transformed the company into one of the largest companies in the history of the world. His company didn’t invent the MP3 player, but the iPod revolutionized how we listen to music. The iPhone re-invented the telephone as we know it. The iPad made personal computing more personal than it ever has been. So what makes Apple so special? It’s not necessarily that they do it first, they just do it better. In fact, they do it so good history will believe they were the first.

Still in need of some more inspiration? Here are my top 5 favorite Steve Jobs quotes.

HP Touchpad Madness: iPad Impact

Date: August 24, 2011 | Category: Interesting

Recently HP drastically lowered the price of their 16GB and 32GB HP Touchpads. This was due to the fact that HP is getting out of the tablet game. They are not getting rid of their operating system, webOS, though. They will be licensing it out to other companies who want to put it on their devices.

Hewlett Packard dropped the price of its 16 GB tablet from $499.99 down to $99.99 after apparently dismal sales. It’s not surprising that their tablet was not a big hit. While the hardware and software of the device was great, there was a lack of app support on the webOS platform. You can’t justify spending 500 bucks on a tablet that does not have the same quantity of apps as Apple’s App store or Google’s Android market.

Fake Apple Stores In China

Date: August 3, 2011 | Category: Interesting

China is the capital of fake merchandise. The problem of counterfeit goods is rampant and the vast majority comes from China. You can go to any swap meet / flea market and see nothing but fake merchandise. It’s even easier online to find fake products. This issue is important for many reasons.

First, jobs are leaving America and heading to China since they can make things cheaper. Some items are made of high quality and still made in America, yet their knock-offs are made in China and sell for a fraction of the cost. Second, the money from these sales isn’t going to the companies who have spent millions of dollars to research, invest, create and then market their products. Finally, the consumer ends up with an inferior product. They then can write a review or otherwise spread the word of how bad the product was.

The iPad 2 came out a few months ago to great acclaim. People rushed to get the shiny new iteration of Apple’s latest device and it has generally received excellent reviews. Here’s a look at the Apple iPad 2, and some of the key differences between it and the original version.

One of the key selling points of the iPad 2 is its lighter body – it is 33 per cent thinner and up to 15 per cent lighter making it noticeably smaller than the original. The second you pick up the new device you notice this, and it just feels more responsive, portable and fun to use. Added performance is always a good thing, but the iPad has always been an experience – by taking away some bulk Apple has made it much more pleasant to use.
